🐢 Meet Spinner: Our First Special Needs Turtle and Lifelong Fighter

  • 2 min read

Spinner may be tiny, but she’s nothing short of a miracle. A very old three-toed box turtle, Spinner was the first special needs turtle to arrive at our sanctuary—and she’s been inspiring us every day since.

Due to a spinal injury—likely caused by a car or human—Spinner constantly turns in one direction and cannot use her limbs properly. For the last 20 years, she has been hand-fed with care, and against all odds, she continues to live a healthy, active life. Her favorite snack? Super worms, of course!

Spinner’s resilience is at the heart of everything we celebrate on World Turtle Day®—the determination to keep going, no matter what.

📚 Fun Turtle Fact:

Three-toed box turtles have a hinged shell that lets them close up tightly for protection—but Spinner reminds us that even the best defense can’t stop everything. What matters most is how we care for animals after they’ve been hurt.

Thank you for following Spinner's journey and for supporting the sanctuary.

We’re so grateful to have you as part of our turtle-loving community, and we can't wait to see your entries in Spinner's Art Contest!

Spinner’s story truly moved me, because her resilience reflects the kind of quiet strength many of us rely on in our own lives when facing long-term challenges. As a PhD student in today’s demanding academic environment, I often relate to this kind of perseverance balancing my research with a part-time role in PhD research paper editing help at Academic Editors has shown me how much unseen effort goes into every success, whether it’s in conservation or academia. During my own college days, I struggled a lot with academic pressures and limited guidance, so Spinner’s journey reminds me why compassion, patience, and consistent care matter so much. It’s inspiring to see how dedication can give someone or in this case, a turtle…

Spinner’s resilience is such an inspiration—reminds us that every creature deserves care, even when life throws tough challenges their way. While supporting turtle sanctuaries is wonderful, if you’re also managing personal finances like student loans, using a Student Loan Calculator can help free up more room to give back to causes you love.

The December 31, 2025, deadline for PAN-Aadhaar linking is a critical reminder from UIDAI for all taxpayers across the country. Ensuring these documents are connected is vital for maintaining active bank accounts and avoiding penalties during tax filing. This integration plays a central role in formalizing the Indian economy and reducing the prevalence of duplicate identities.
